Privacy Policy

Draft. This is a plain-language starting point, not legal advice. It should be reviewed by a qualified lawyer (and the [bracketed] details filled in) before it’s relied upon.

Overview

This policy explains what Trivia Quest ([triviaquest.io]) collects and why. The short version: players are anonymous, and we collect the minimum needed to run the game, process credit purchases, and prevent abuse.

What we collect

  • Players: no account and no personal details. A random ID is stored in your browser so a refresh rejoins the same game. That’s it.
  • Hosts who sign in: your email address (for the one-time sign-in code) and an account identifier. If you buy credits, your credit balance and a ledger of credit transactions.
  • Payments: handled by Stripe. Stripe processes your card and billing details; we receive confirmation and a transaction reference, but not your full card number.
  • Themes & feedback: the custom themes you type and any feedback you send (with the role, room code, and game phase, to help us triage).
  • Technical: basic connection data such as IP address, used transiently to rate-limit and prevent abuse, plus standard server logs. We use Google reCAPTCHA / App Check to tell humans from bots.

How we use it

To run and improve the game, deliver sign-in codes, process and track credit purchases, prevent abuse and fraud, and respond to feedback. We don’t sell your personal information.

Custom themes and AI

When you generate a custom AI dungeon, the theme you type is sent to our AI providers (Anthropic and Google) to generate the questions and art. Avoid putting personal or sensitive information in a theme.

Service providers

We share data only with providers that help us run the Service:

  • Google Firebase / Cloud — authentication, database, and hosting (policy).
  • Stripe — payment processing (policy).
  • Anthropic — AI trivia generation (policy).
  • Google (Gemini) — AI image generation.
  • Resend — delivery of sign-in code emails.

These providers may process data in the United States and elsewhere.

Cookies and local storage

We use browser local storage for the anonymous player ID and, for signed-in hosts, a login session. Google reCAPTCHA may set cookies for abuse prevention. We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Retention

Live game state is in memory and disappears when a game ends. Account, credit, and feedback records are kept as long as needed to provide the Service and meet legal/accounting obligations, then deleted or anonymized.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and hosts who sign in or purchase are expected to be adults. “Kids mode” only adjusts question content to be family-friendly; players remain anonymous and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise them — including deleting your account and credit records — contact us at contact@happy-hobbies.biz. We’ll respond as required by applicable law.

Security and changes

We use reputable providers and reasonable safeguards, but no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. We may update this policy; material changes are reflected by the “Last updated” date above. Questions: contact@happy-hobbies.biz, or the in-app feedback button.
